Getting Melbourne electricians found on Google and named by AI

Most people don't know what a switchboard upgrade costs, or whether they even need one. So they ask: Google, or a chat assistant. This page is about being the electrician the answer points to.

What Melbourne customers actually type

These are real searches, taken from Google's Australian autocomplete on 2 October 2026. Three things stand out:

  • Customers search in questions, not just job names: “do I need to upgrade my switchboard”, “switchboard upgrade cost Melbourne”. Questions are what AI assistants answer, and they name businesses when they do.
  • EV chargers have their own searches. “EV charger installation Melbourne” is a job customers look for directly, so it deserves its own line on your profile and its own page.
  • Small jobs get searched for on purpose: “electrician near me small job”. Plenty of customers worry a sparky won't come out for one power point. Saying you will is a reason to pick you.
  • electrician melbourne
  • emergency electrician melbourne
  • after hours electrician melbourne
  • 24 hour emergency electrician melbourne
  • electrician near me small job
  • electrician near me open now
  • electrician near me free quote
  • switchboard upgrade cost melbourne
  • do i need to upgrade my switchboard
  • power point installation melbourne
  • ev charger installation melbourne
  • electrician melbourne reddit

Autocomplete shows what people type, not how often they type it, so there are no search volumes on this page. Anyone quoting you exact numbers for searches this specific should be able to show you where they came from.

The questions your customers ask ChatGPT

These are the exact questions the free check sends to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini for electricians, with your suburb filled in. The check records whether you're named in each answer, and who is named instead.

  1. best emergency electrician in your suburb, Melbourne
  2. who should I call for a switchboard upgrade in your suburb, Melbourne
  3. recommend a reliable electrician near your suburb, Melbourne
  4. I need power going out in half the house in your suburb, Melbourne - who do you recommend?
  5. top rated electricians in your suburb, Melbourne
  6. looking for an honest electrician around your suburb, Melbourne, any recommendations?
  7. who's the best electrician in your suburb, Melbourne for a safety switch that keeps tripping
  8. is there a good local electrician in your suburb, Melbourne that works weekends?

What I'd do for electricians

It starts with your Google profile set to the right category — for electricians that's Electrician — and then:

  • Your Google profile set to Electrician, with services written as customers say them: switchboard upgrades, EV charger installation, safety switches, power points.
  • Plain-English answers to the cost and “do I need” questions on your site. A page that answers the question is a page an AI can quote.
  • After-hours availability stated clearly if you offer it. “After hours electrician Melbourne” and “24 hour emergency electrician Melbourne” are both real searches.

What it costs

Free

The visibility check. Real answers from three AI assistants, on screen.

$500

The audit, once. 39 checks, a priority list and a 90-day plan. Yours to keep.

$400/mo

I do the work. No lock-in, cancel any month.

Google profile changes usually show in 2 to 6 weeks. Closing a review gap takes 2 to 4 months. AI answers typically start shifting in 1 to 3 months. Those are typical timeframes, not promises.

More calls from your Google listing within 90 days, or you stop paying until there are. I can't promise the calls will come, because Google and ChatGPT decide who they show. What I can promise is that you won't keep paying if they don't. They're counted from your own Google profile, so you can check them yourself, and they lead your report every month. The full terms are on the monthly plan page.

Questions electricians ask me

Is hipages worth it for electricians?

It depends on your margins and how many quotes each lead goes to. Shared leads put you up against whoever else unlocked the job, usually on price. I've laid out the maths in the hipages guide linked below.

Do I need a website, or is a Google profile enough?

For most sparkies, the Google profile and reviews do the heavy lifting first. A website matters more once you want to be found for specific jobs like EV chargers or switchboard upgrades, because that's where you can answer the questions properly.

Can you guarantee more calls?

Not that they'll come, because nobody controls what Google does. But I guarantee what you pay: if your Google listing isn't getting more calls by day 90 than before we started, you stop paying until it is. The calls are counted from your own Google profile, so you can check them yourself.
